Coping with this Pandemic

Hello, friends. Well, it’s safe to say that 2020 certainly wasn’t the year that we were all hoping for/expecting…um is this not true? Like so many of you, a lot of fun plans are just not going to happen for us right now. And even more of a bummer, our daily routines have been altered quite a bit. This is the sad reality many of us our facing, however if we look at the much bigger picture, I feel a much more overwhelming sadness for those who have been on the very front lines of this covid 19 crisis.

Let’s just say my heart goes out to all of these souls, the family’s who have lost loved ones, the medical professionals, and all of those doing their part and risking their own health to help others selflessly. With the sad reality that has been laid before us, and the rising numbers of cases and deaths, I really hope that others will take social distancing a bit more seriously. Let’s ditch the political and personal views and just come together and practice compassion for humanity here. Because ultimately that is what Social Distancing is.

Regardless of the ugly that I have seen in this situation, I have in fact seen the beautiful side of humanity. I am so thankful for this. Living in such a dark time, it’s so reassuring. For example, all of those who ARE practicing safe social distancing and doing their due diligence at attempting to flatten the curve. I miss traveling and exploring different beautiful places with my family, however it is so important that we do our part and potentially save multiple lives, to help our hospitals not get overwhelmed to capacity.

One of the many things that I am thankful for right now, is my wonderful husband and kids. They are my anchors, and I feel like if and when we get through this, it will in fact make us even stronger as a family unit. Even though homeschooling has been quite the task, and as time consuming as it is, I am happy and so very much thankful to be a Stay at Home Mama and I am taking it as an opportunity to bond even more with my kiddos. I was very sad to pull my daughter out of preschool but we signed her up for ABC Mouse. Also she has been painting on her easel as well as other activities, including a lot of hand washing and luckily she has a VERY active imagination and has been keeping herself busy for the most part. This has been quite the adjustment with both kiddos, but they are doing okay, even through the rough patches. Let’s just say that I really have an incredible amount of respect for elementary and preschool teachers.

Also, a few of the other things (some big, some small) that I am incredibly thankful for is that my husband gets to work from home, a house to live in, the health of my family, food in our fridge, good books to read, friends and family, Netflix, kind people, my backyard, the helpers of the World, good food, social media, music, gardening, playing outside with my kids, the deep meaningful late night conversations that the Hubs and I have and SO. MUCH. MORE. In times like these, it is so important to look at what you have going on for you and cherish it with every ounce of your being. This is how I cope. This is how I get through many of the hard times that I have faced throughout my lifetime. Just remember to hold on to all the good and wonderful things that you have in this life! We will make it through this.

Realistic Goals for 2020

Hi friends! I can’t believe we are living in a new decade. Time really flies doesn’t it? I am so excited for the new year, as I have some goal’s set before me that I am determined to accomplish. Obviously, as you can see I have started this blog, which I am pretty excited about. Something that I have been wanting to do for awhile, but just haven’t prioritized the time for it. Mainly because my role as a Mama and Wife take up most of my time, and to be quite honest, there is no shame in that! Now that my son is in school and my daughter is going to preschool part time certainly gives me a bit of a break. (YAY!) Also, the hubs and I are not planning to have any more kiddos, as we are incredibly happy with two. So that will definitely give me more time to blog away and give me the time to focus on hobbies, etc.

As with blogging, I have other goals that I am planning to accomplish. One of them is eating more clean. Like some of you I’m sure, I most definately over indulged a bit this past Holiday season. In years past, I probably would have beaten myself up over it, but I am not going to this time around. Mainly because the memories made were totally worth it, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Also, I am not going to let myself get in a rut of eating bad all year long. So, yes, eating clean is definitely on my list of goals this year. No fad diets, no restrictions, just simply eating cleaner. Oh! And also, drinking MORE water!

Another goal that I have is stepping up my fitness level. I am a big fan of working out at home. Whether it be HIIT workouts, running, walking, hiking outside, at home workout programs, the treadmill, I pretty much love all the variety! I am a variety kind of gal. My Christmas present this year was a NordicTrack, and I love it. I will probably be doing a review on it on here sometime in the near future. There is so much cool stuff though, including workout programs, walking/running through different countries, etc. I have been having a blast with it. Let’s just say that I have been closing my rings on my apple watch most days this past week, so couldn’t be happier! I think I am off to a good start, and I plan on continuing the streak.

In addition, another goal I have is to explore more fun places with my Family. I am such a travel junkie at heart. Fun fact: my horoscope on the day I was born said that I was born to travel. Which totally makes sense. I traveled a ton with both of my parents when I was younger. I have such fond memories of those times. I plan on doing the same with my Family. Last year we had so much fun visiting Oahu, Hawaii. This year we have plans to explore our beautiful State of California. So much adventure, so little time!

Do you have any goals in mind for 2020? New Year resolutions? Please tell, I would love to hear!

Introduction

Hi there and thank you so much for stopping by! My name is Sarah and I want to welcome you with open arms to my little space on the internet. I am a happy wife to my husband, Nathan as well as a Mama to two gorgeous blessings, Samuel and Emma. We currently reside in a small town located in Southern California. We basically have the mountains on one side of us, and the ocean on the other. It’s not too shabby as there is so much to do and see within close proximity.

Being a Mama has brought an incredible amount of joy to my life, but as they say, “Mommin ain’t easy.” On top of losing both of my parents to diabetes and cancer, when my kids were just babies had definitely made life feel a bit desolate, however made me so much stronger as an individual. I find a sense of sanity in my health/fitness journey, my loving husband, and my beautiful children.

Anyhow, I felt like starting this blog because I would love nothing more than to share my journey with you all regarding my health/fitness related stuff, travel adventures, reviews, recipes, etc. Disclosure: I am not a perfect writer, so please don’t expect perfection. Expect real, flawed, inspiration and most importantly, fun! Also, I will probably be starting this blog off slowly until both of my kiddos are in school full time. I am SO excited to share my journey with you all!
